Throwback Thursday: Saif Ali Khan feels his son Ibrahim Ali Khan can play the role of his father Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi in his biopic – Times of India

With the ongoing trend of making sports biopics in Bollywood, one cannot help but think about late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, who was one of the best sportsmen India has ever had. And given that the rest of his family is part of Indian cinema, it looks like the perfect way to tell his story to people.
We came across this old interview of Saif Ali Khan where he opened up about the possibility of a film being made on the life of his late father and if it works out, who would he love to see essaying the role.

Speaking about if he would be interested in writing a biography or making a biopic on Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Saif reportedly said that writing a biography is one thing and making a movie is different. According to him, it will be very difficult to make a movie based on his life. He added that he doesn’t even have enough facts to write it so somebody else has to write it. There is a lot of material out there, particularly when he passed away, there were articles and lots of stories.

Elaborating further, he revealed that somebody was writing a book on him but it did not work out very well. Reportedly, his mother Sharmila Tagore wasn’t very happy. But he feels somebody should write as it is a great story.

However, when it comes to making a film on his late father’s extravagant life, Saif feels that a typical Bollywood film will not do justice to his father’s life story. He reportedly said that he doesn’t even know if they will even give the rights to make the film as it cannot be a bad movie. He also added that he doesn’t think it can be a Hindi film because his father an international personality and one cannot just make a Bollywood film and have songs.

However, he also averred that if the film is ever made then his son Ibrahim Ali Khan can essay his grandfather’s role.
Even Sharmila Tagore in a recent interview had said that her grandson Ibrahim is the only one in the family who looks like a Pataudi as he is tall and fond of cricket.

On the work front, Saif Ali Khan will next be seen in ‘Jawaani Jaaneman’. The movie also features Tabu and debutant Alaya F. The film will hit the theatres tomorrow, January 31.

His last film, ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ which also starred Ajay Devgn and Kajol have been breaking records at the box-office.
