Sara Ali Khan-Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Love Aaj Kal’ witness a huge drop while Disha Patani-Aditya Roy Kapur’s ‘Malang’ excels at the box office – Times of India

Imtiaz Ali’s romantic drama ‘Love Aaj Kal‘ which saw Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan teaming up for the first time on the silver screen failed to impress the audience. The film which had an excellent start fizzled out soon as the film was largely rejected by the audience. According to the latest Box Office India report, the film has managed to earn just Rs 1.50 crore from its second weekend.

‘Love Aaj Kal’ which had a great buzz around it prior to its release started witnessing a drop soon and its second-weekend collections are almost down by 95% down as compared to the first weekend. The second-weekend collection of the Kartik and Sara starrer has helped the film reach a total of Rs 32.62 crore.

On the other hand, Disha Patani and Aditya Roy Kapur‘s romantic thriller ‘Malang‘ has been witnessing a phenomenal run at the box office. The Mohit Suri directorial has earned another Rs 2.80 crore from its third weekend which has taken the film’s total collection to Rs 54.16 crore. As per the box office report, ‘Malang’ is expected to finish around the Rs 58 crore.

Meanwhile, in an exclusive chat with ETimes, filmmaker Mohit Suri revealed that the sequel is on the cards. “Sequel to ‘Malang’ is definitely on the cards but I cannot confirm at the moment,” he said. Furthermore, he even talked about the film’s success. He said, “Malang is an off-beat film with an ensemble star cast. Despite many big films releasing around it, it is sustaining the weekend after the weekend. Most people had given up on it even before releasing it. So this film collecting Rs 50 crore is more in valuation than the film which does Rs 450+ business at the box-office. The film today has spoken for itself. ”
