According to the latest Box Office India report, the film has crashed after good first-day collections due to Valentines Day. ‘Love Aaj Kal’ collected Rs 31.85 crore in its first week one but the first day collections of the film were Rs 11.75 crore which is nearly 37% of the first week total. Furthermore, the report also suggested that the film will hardly do any business in the second-week and a Rs 35 crore finish is the best the film can hope for.
Meanwhile, in an exclusive chat with ETimes, senior trade expert Taran Adarsh, opened up about the film’s box office debacle. “Well, I feel that ‘Love Aaj Kal’ has been rejected by the audience. I would also like to add that the upcoming releases of Kartik as well as Sara are interesting and big films. Therefore, I think it won’t affect them so much as it would affect Imtiaz Ali. Ali’s last few films have also not worked at the box office and even the collections of ‘Love Aaj Kal’ if compared to the 2009 film seem to be on a lower side,” he said.
Sara had also opened up about the poor box office performance of the ‘Love Aaj Kal’. When quizzed about it she had said that her job as an actor is done before the release of the film. She further added that her job is to do what the director asks her to do with complete conviction and she has done that. She said that beyond that it’s for the audience and media to love and she hopes that they do.
