Kangana Ranaut honoured with Padma Shri for excellence in the field of performing arts – Times of India

Kangana Ranaut, who has been winning hearts as Jaya Nigam in ‘Panga’, has been honoured with the Padma Shri for excellence in the field of performing arts.

An elated Kangana says, “I’m humbled and I’m honoured. I thank my country for this recognition and I dedicate this to every woman who dares to dream. To every daughter… to every mother… and to the dreams of women who will shape the future of our country.”

The talented actress previously received three national awards for her outstanding work in films like ‘Fashion’, ‘Queen’ and ‘Tanu Weds Manu’.

On behalf of the team ‘Panga’, director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari congratulated Kangana and said, “There are very few humans who have the ability to be visionaries not for just themselves but also for others. Kangana has risen on her own through her dedication and hard work despite many challenges and limited support. This recognition empowers many more women of our beloved country to walk their own chosen path fearlessly.”

Rangoli Chandel also congratulated her sister for the great honour and sent out a tweet that read, “Kangana Ranaut actor and director multiple national awards winner at the age of 32 on the eve of Republic Day 2020 awarded with Padma Shri one of the highest honours in the country..””

PM Narendra Modi also extended his congratulations to all the winners that included director Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor and singer Adnan Sami, among many others. He sent out a tweet that read, “Congratulations to all those who have been conferred the Padma Awards. The awardees include extraordinary individuals who have made exceptional contributions to our society, nation and humanity.”
