AR Rahman’s daughter Khatija often gets targeted for her choice of wearing a burqa at events. And it happened again recently when writer Taslima Nasreen commented that she feels suffocating when she looks at Khatija wearing a burqa at events.

Taslima posted a picture of Khatija in a burqa and wrote, “I absolutely love A R Rahman‘s music. But whenever i see his dear daughter, i feel suffocated. It is really depressing to learn that even educated women in a cultural family can get brainwashed very easily! (sic)”

Soon, Khatija gave a befitting reply to Taslima with a post on Instagram. Now, talking about the same, father Rahman said that she has sung a song which received a lot of love and such criticism will never get any kind of retaliation from his side. The music maestro also stated that his daughter replied to Taslima over her comments on the burqa.

He went on to add that children are brought up in a way where they understand the good and bad but they also have their own free will. When the singer was quizzed if had a conversation with his daughter over the controversy, he said that she did what she wanted to. He further stated that Khatija’s attire is more than a religious thing and it’s her choice to wear it and she has all the freedom to wear what she wants!
