The Tamil film industry is a mine of talent and every year sees some talented fresh faces that make a grand entry into the industry. Many of them shine bright and manage to get back to back films to themselves as they set out on an ambitious career path. However, there are some who disappear for unfortunate reasons and fans wish that they would return to entertain them. Here are five such actresses who marked their entries into Kollywood with a bang but soon went missing. Fans are still waiting eagerly for those talented actresses to come back to the silver screen.
Aditi Balan started her acting career as the lead actress in the 2017 film ‘Aruvi’, directed by Prabhu. She had taken up a challenging role which many top actresses in the industry had refused to do at that point and had given a brilliant performance. Aditi was well appreciated by the critics and the audience for her acting, but the actress who was expected to have a lasting career has been missing from Kollywood since then. The actress is currently filming for a Malayalam film ‘Padavettu’ starring Nivin Paul in the lead role.
Janani Iyer began her career as an assistant director in Simbu’s ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya’, which was directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon. Janani then made her acting debut with Bala’s ‘Avan Ivan’ and earned a lot of love from the audience. The actress, who also gave some remarkable performances in films like ‘Thegidi’, ‘Adhe Kangal’ and ‘Balloon’, was last seen in a cameo role in the Yogi Babu-starrer ‘Dharmaprabhu’. Janani also earned a lot of fans as a contestant of the television show Bigg Boss Tamil, but has been missing in action since last year.
Richa Gangopadhyay, a model-actress, is known for her performances in the films ‘Mayakkam Enna’ and ‘Osthe’ opposite Dhanush and Simbu respectively. The beautiful actress also won a few awards for her performance in Dhanush’s ‘Mayakkam Enna’. Richa Gangopadhyay has also done some films in Telugu, and was last seen in the Telugu film ‘Bhai’ starring Nagarjuna Akkineni. The actress, who initially wanted to have a long-term career in business management, ended up in films, but has been missing from the movies since 2013.
The 1992 born actress, Karthika Nair, is the daughter of the popular Tamil actress Radha. Karthika Nair, who started her career in Telugu cinema, made her debut in Tamil with Jiiva’s ‘Ko’. The actress impressed the audience with her graceful eyes and signed back to back Tamil films after ‘Ko’. Karthika was also heard to be filming for the Arun Vijay-starrer ‘Vaa Deal’, however, the film has not released till date. Then the actress made her entry onto the small screen and acted in an Indian television series ‘Aarambh’.
Simran, the dream actress of many 1990s kids, made her first appearance as a host in the show ‘Superhit Muqabla’. The countdown show of songs in Hindi was very popular back then. Simran also appeared in several films across Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, and Urdu languages. She even ruled the South Indian cinema industry like a queen for almost a decade and earned a huge fan following for herself. Simran then continued to act in supporting roles, however, popular opinion was that she was better in lead roles. In recent times, Simran has been a part of Vikram’s long-delayed project ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’, which the fans have been waiting eagerly for as the film will see her in a strong role.
