Exclusive! Vicky Kaushal reveals the one thing that he is most afraid of and it is not ghosts! – Times of India

Vicky Kaushal is one of the most promising actors we have in Bollywood. And with his body of work, he has joined the club of the most versatile actors in the industry. After impressing one and all with some brilliant performances in his past few films, he has taken a plunge into the horror genre and has already garnered positive responses from his audience and critics alike.

The actor, who is not a horror film buff, opened up about the horror films he has watched, his biggest fear and his experience of shooting the film in an exclusive interview with ETimes. Excerpts from the interview:

How was your experience shooting for ‘Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship’?
My experience of shooting for ‘Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship’ was amazing and it was a great learning experience for me because it was a completely new genre. It was a genre I was not prepared for, a grammar I was not prepared for. It becomes very technical and intricate while performing scenes, especially when you are alone in that haunted ship, where you are reacting to nothingness. All the audios and the visuals that I have reacted to were created later on so performing becomes all the more difficult. You have to keep engaging with your director as to what his vision is like and what are the things he is planning to add. So it becomes very clinical and technical.

Your film clashed with Ayushmann Khurrana‘s ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan‘. Did you have any apprehensions before the release of your film?
I think we are living in a time where it is impossible to have a solo release date because there are just 54 weeks in a year and the number of films that Bollywood makes, the count is much larger than that. So it is bound to happen that we have multiple releases on the same day. The good thing is both the films are of completely different genres. So the audiences are going to come to the theatres for completely different reasons. As far as Ayushmann is concerned he is doing a fantastic job and I wish him the very best.

What is your biggest fear or phobia?
My biggest personal phobia is water. I am quite a hydrophobic guy. My biggest fear is to be stranded alone on a boat in the middle of the ocean. That would scare the hell out of me.

Do you personally love watching horror films? What is the last film you watched?
I love watching horror films only when I am with a set of friends who are more afraid to watch a horror film than me. Only then I enjoy watching it. But watching a horror film alone is a very difficult thing for me. I am quite scared of watching horror films.

The last horror film I saw was ‘Conjuring’ and ‘Annabelle’ and both of them were quite scary.

Directed by Bhanu Pratap Singh, the horror film also starred Bhumi Pednekar in a key role. The movie hit the theatres on February 21, 2020.
